Much like the tone of Anna Maria Island, paddleboarding is an adventure with relaxing vibes. While a keen sense of balance helps, anyone can enjoy a morning of serene sights on a paddleboard. Rent one from AMI Paddleboard Adventures and cruise along the scenic edge of Robinson Preserve. Or stop by Island Yoga Space to try paddleboard yoga for a workout with Zen – you might even spot a manatee or two!
While the calm waves in the Bradenton Area aren’t exactly ideal for surfing, they’re perfect for skimboarding. It’s sort of like surfing, but instead of riding big waves, you ride on the beach where the water crests over shore. Don’t have a skimboard? No problem! You can rent them at places like the West Coast Surf Shop on Holmes Beach.
Skaters can feel at home on their vacation to the Bradenton Area by making their way to the Riverwalk. The Riverwalk Skate Park has undergone recent renovations that will challenge even the most skilled skateboarders. Bowls, rails, ramps – it’s got something for everyone, including an awesome view of the Manatee River!
Pick up the pace with some wakeboarding off the shores of Anna Maria Island. Bring your wakeboard and rent a boat for the afternoon to carve through the calm Gulf waters. In fact, it’s those calm waters that make the Bradenton Area perfect for wakeboarding. Don’t sweat it if you don’t own a board – the boat rental shops keep plenty in stock for you to rent.
Take your board adventures up a notch with some flyboarding. If you haven’t heard of flyboarding, think of it as a hoverboard on water. But it does more than just hover. The jet-propelled board can take you over 10 feet above the water! And don’t worry about not having the balance to do it. We asked, and practically everyone who tries it can do it on their first attempt.
