The History of the Winery
There’s something romantic about a bottle of wine. So it’s no surprise that a couple founded this Bradenton Area winery. Larry and Lenora Woodham moved to their 23-acre vineyard nearly 20 years ago with the intention of growing grapes. Naturally, their passion for winemaking led to some unique wine creations. And five years ago, they decided to start sharing their wines with the public. The natural Florida flavors and their sustainable approach to winemaking have quickly made Bunker Hill Vineyard & Winery a local favorite. Today, the Woodhams sell their wine all over the world and have gained praise from wine magazines from as far away as Europe.
The Greenest Winery in America
The first thing you should know about Bunker Hill Winery is that it’s 100% sustainable. And that’s no exaggeration. Each and every wine made here goes home in a recycled bottle. In fact, Bunker Hill Vineyard & Winery hasn’t purchased one new bottle. And the bottles are sealed with real oak corks and genuine wax as opposed to plastic. But that’s not all. The creative Woodhams have used recycled bottles to make one of the most unique wedding arches you’ll ever see. It all helps the winery live up to its nickname of “The Greenest Winery in America.”
The Flavor of Florida
What makes the wines at Bunker Hill Vineyard & Winery special? Easy. It’s the flavor. The winery uses 100% Florida ingredients. It starts with muscadine grapes, grown right on the property. They give each wine a brighter flavor that you could only get in Florida. But the winery uses other Florida ingredients, too. Locally grown peaches, cherry tomatoes, oranges and grapefruits have all found their way into Bunker Hill wines. And you won’t get juices or other flavors thrown in. The only thing that gets added to the wine is at least one year of aging.
