Pittsburgh Pirates, MLB Spring Training return to the Bradenton Area


The Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training season begins Saturday, February 25 at LECOM Park when Toronto Blue Jays come to town. The Pirates are one of 14 teams in Major League Baseball’s Grapefruit League in sunny Florida.

Pittsburgh Pirates, MLB Spring Training return to the Bradenton Area

The Pirates will play 32 Spring Training games, 16 of which will be at home at LECOM Park, located in the heart of Bradenton.

In fact, three of the Pirates’ first four games will take place at LECOM. The team’s only road game during the first four contests will take place on February 26 at Port Charlotte against the Tampa Bay Rays.  

With an abundance of hotels, restaurants and things to do, a trip to the Bradenton Area can be the perfect getaway for baseball fans.

Additional highlights of the 2023 Spring Training schedule include:

  • March 2: The Pirates will host the New York Yankees for the first of two games as part of a split squad that will also have the Bucs traveling to Dunedin to face the Blue Jays. March 17: The Pirates host the Rays on St. Patrick’s Day. (Look out for special green caps and other lucky attire!)  March 23: The Pirates host the Red Sox for the only time during the 2023 Grapefruit League campaign. March 25: The Pirates open the final weekend of the Grapefruit League season against the Baltimore Orioles. March 28: The 2023 Spring Training campaign wraps up with a home game against the Twins.
