Your First Stop for Last-Minute Gifts
By this late hour, we hope you’ve completed most of your holiday shopping! But there’s nothing like a heartfelt (local!) gift to give someone to make their holiday haul a memorable one. In our last-minute gift guide, we’ve found some of our favorite local gifts that will help you bring the Bradenton Area home for holidays.
Great finds on Pine
With shops lining both sides of the street, Pine Avenue is one of the perfect places to peruse tropical treats and island-themed gifts. Among the many treasures to be had, you’ll find colorful attire that’s perfect for a day on the beach, Anna Maria Island decals, and even sand-dollar ornaments you can paint by hand. With dozens places to shop along Pine, you’ll find something for everyone.
Head to Old Main for new gift ideas
Old Main Street is lined with shady oak trees and a century-old building that house shops and restaurants which is reason alone to visit. While you’re there, browse Jennings Arcade where you’ll find unique shops and galleries. Not far off is the City Centre parking garage. The lower level of this new structure has new boutiques that offer locally made art, jewelry, clothing and gifts. If you’re visiting between October and May, plan a stop on a Saturday morning for the Bradenton Public Market. Old Main Street turns into an open-air bazaar where nearly 100 vendors line the streets, offering everything from hand-crafted home goods, attractive art, tasty treats, and everything in between.
The vibrant and colorful Village of the Arts is home to talented artists and their galleries. More than just a neighborhood, this eclectic live-work district is one of the largest in the region, and is home to numerous chef-owned restaurants and artist-run studios. You’ll find art that spans many genres which means you’ll easily find something that appeals to everyone, even those with discerning tastes. From the healing arts to culinary arts—and of course, traditional art—there is something for everyone on your list. For the best opportunity to browse all of the galleries, plan your visit for ArtWalk, which is the first Friday and Saturday of each month.
