Coquina Beach

No visit to the Bradenton Area is complete without stepping foot on the sugar-soft sand of Coquina Beach. Setting this public space apart are the countless amenities, including splendid views of the Gulf of Mexico, miles of paved walking paths, a concession stand, clean bathrooms, and even playgrounds to keep the kids entertained. This beach comes highly recommended by locals and visitors alike. You’ll likely make a second—or third—trip back to enjoy the wide swath of activities, including the obligatory beach day. When you’re here, take an early morning walk on the shaded path and listen closely to the gentle sound of the wind blowing though the gigantic Australian Pine trees overhead.

Jiggs Landing

Cast your cares away at Jiggs Landing—literally. This fishing camp is a modern outpost that attracts boaters, anglers, and sight-seers alike. Located on a lush peninsula on Ever’s Reservoir, this camp offers picnic areas, freshwater fishing, and kayaking on the Braden River. The Outpost serves as a concession stand and rental depot, allowing you the opportunity to grab a tasty snack, rent a boat, kayak, or fishing tackle. Since you’ll fall in love with the laid-back ambiance, you can even rent cabins for a night (or two) to unwind and unplug from the world around you. And while you’re here, rent a kayak and take a leisure paddle up-river to Linger Lodge for a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Conservatory Park

The name says it all, Conservatory Park is a 55-acre public space is half park and half preserve. This hidden gem is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of its surroundings, so much so that you might think you’ve taken a wrong turn when arriving! The paved trails twist through tall pine trees and palmetto underbrush, with openings revealing picnic areas, restrooms, a small playground, and a ten-acre lake. Birders often spot bald eagles and red-shouldered hawks cresting among the treetops of this wooded space, so bring your binoculars. With limited parking available, this park is the perfect place to feel as if you’re miles away from everything and ‘one’ with the natural surroundings.

De Soto National Memorial

The Bradenton Area is home to the De Soto National Memorial, which one of twelve National Parks found in Florida. This place is for history buffs and nature-enthusiasts alike. You’ll find a rich history of Native Americans and a wide swath of native vegetation, including gigantic gumbo limbo trees. The Visitor’s Center houses exhibits and artifacts that tells the tales of this small peninsula, the surrounding area, and local peoples and Spanish conquistadors. Don’t forget the nature trails, which allow you to experience the untouched coastal Florida landscape. Did we mention the picturesque outlooks of Tampa Bay and the Manatee River?

Lake Manatee State Park

This park’s hiking trails extend for miles along its namesake, Lake Manatee. The large, freshwater lake is perfect for boating, fishing, and swimming. But don’t let the name fool you, Lake Manatee State Park is more than just a lake. The encampment features over 550-acres of pine flatwoods, scrub, marshes, and hardwood forests to explore. Feeling adventurous? There are 60 full-facility campsites waiting for you to enjoy. Among other amenities, you’ll find water and electric hookups, making it perfect for to a tent or bring your RV for an extended stay.
